This wash house was built on a spring in the mid-19th century. It is located on the outskirts of the town, on the path heading towards the river and next to the Fuente de los Cuatro Chorros (Fountain of the Four Jets) which dates back to 1857 and was used to supply the town with water for domestic use (washing, cleaning, etc.). It is possible to see where the water jugs used to collect the water have gradually worn away its stones through continuous use. In the past, it was a gathering place for people while they did their washing, at present this wash house continues in operation and people still come from the town to wash.
In the surrounding area there are other springs whose waters are used to irrigate the farming areas and following its course the water flows out into the Sellent River, after passing through the “La Cabrentà” Municipal Nature Park.
Behind the town hall, next to La Horteta (an old Moorish vegetable plot) and the La Putaia path, which goes down to the Sellent River, sits the public fountain in a charming and peaceful spot, it is flanked by the modest public wash house with a single wall. As the substrata in Estubeny is limestone and prone to karst phenomena (caves), the aquifer has many springs such as the one in the town and another two relatively nearby: those of Tío Marcelino and Tío Blanco, which can be visited via paths that converge in the La Cabrentà Nature Park. Tío Marcelino spring occupies one side at the end of La Cabrentà, with its pool and stone bench. While, Tío Blanco spring is located opposite the lower entrance to La Cabrentà, in a quadrangular pool carved out of the ground, next to the course of the Sellent River.
