The Moorish origins of Quesa are linked to the existence of a water source, the Fuente de la Mina spring, which was harnessed by the Berbers in the Middle Ages in order to create vegetable plots like those in North Africa from where they originated. To do this, they dug a mine or tunnel that brought the water to the surface in Plaza de la Diputación, where the public fountain, with its six spouts and a generous flow, was first renovated in 1948 and subsequently in 2018. From here, the water flows under the road, to start the irrigation channel, which runs through a public Wash House dating from 1948 that was restored in 2002. This is a spacious covered building that the neighbours used for washing clothing and goods. From the Wash House, the water goes to the irrigation pool that, for many centuries, has irrigated the agricultural land around the town.
The pool was formerly located closer to the fountain, but in 1947 the Council ceded the land to Valencia Provincial Council in order to widen the road. In exchange, the irrigators received the small plot that would be occupied by the new pool and the wash house, while the fountain was made more accessible.
