Dedicated to the Christ of Providence, the festivities begin on September 13th with the traditional procession of the ‘Descent of Christ’ from the Hermitage to the Church.
Until September 30th, events include the crowning of the festival queen, musical shows, ‘Children’s Day’ with playgrounds, ‘Senior Citizens’ Day’ with a dinner accompanied by a musical group, processions, and other religious events, including the ‘awakening’ procession through the ceramic images in the streets, and the crowded procession of the ‘Ascent of Christ’.
The patron saint festivities include a week of Moors and Christians, featuring the night of the ‘False Entry’ in which the different troupes dress up and humorously criticize the most notable events of the year, as well as the parade of troupes.
The last week of September features the traditional ‘Bous al carrer’ (Bulls in the Street) in the historic center. This includes embolado bulls, release of heifers, and the typical ‘Pruebas’ at 2:00 p.m., in which the animals ascend from the river as in the past, walking through the streets of the town until they reach the square.
